Your personal QR code lets someone add you without typing your WeChat ID:

• Open WeChat and tap Me at the bottom right.
• Tap your name or profile photo at the top, then tap My QR Code (on some versions it is the small QR icon next to your WeChat ID).
• Let the other person scan it with WeChat's Scan feature (the + button > Scan), or use the ... menu on the QR screen to save it as an image.
• The same menu has a reset option. Resetting stops every saved or printed copy of the old code from working, so only do it if your code was shared somewhere you did not want.

Businesses with an Official Account (公众号) have a permanent account QR code and shareable article links:

• Open your Official Account's profile in WeChat; the profile and its ... menu let you share the account or view its QR code.
• Account admins can also download the account's QR code from the Official Accounts Platform on the web, typically from the account settings area.
• For a single article, open it in WeChat, tap ... in the top right and choose Copy Link. The link starts with mp.weixin.qq.com.
• If you use WeCom (企业微信) for customer service, its customer contact link (work.weixin.qq.com) can also be shared and turned into a QR code.

6. WeChat QR Code Not Working? Troubleshooting

When a WeChat QR code fails, the cause is usually one of these:

• 'QR code expired' on a group code: it is older than 7 days. Generate a fresh one from the group chat.
• 'This group has reached its limit' or no join option: the group is too large for QR joining. Ask a member to invite the person directly.
• Scanning with the phone camera shows a web page or nothing: some WeChat codes are only read by WeChat's own Scan. Open WeChat, tap + > Scan, or use Scan from the photo album to read a saved image.
• Your personal code stopped working: it was reset. Share the new one from Me > My QR Code.
• Login code fails: it timed out. Refresh it on the computer and scan again within a minute or two.

If you print a WeChat code, a few habits keep it scannable:

• Size: 2.5 cm (1 in) for business cards and counters; 12 to 15 cm (5 to 6 in) for posters read from about 2 metres.
• Quiet zone: leave a blank margin of at least four modules around the code.
• Matte finish: glossy lamination under shop lights causes glare that cameras cannot read.
• Label it: add one bilingual line such as 'Add us on WeChat / 微信扫一扫' so people know which app to open.
